The Buzz on Bees: Why Earth Day Matters at Hon’s Honey

Every year on Earth Day, we’re reminded that caring for the planet isn’t just about big gestures—it’s about the small, intentional choices we make every day. And at Hon’s Honey, some of our smallest coworkers are also some of the most powerful: the bees.

Why Bees Matter

Bees are essential to our ecosystem. In fact, they pollinate nearly 130 crops in the U.S.—including many of the fruits, vegetables, and nuts we eat daily. Without them, our food supply (and the health of our planet) would look very different.

As global pollinators, honey bees help sustain biodiversity and play a crucial role in restoring our natural environment. Simply put: bees keep the world blooming.

Our Connection to the Hive

At Hon’s Honey, our hives are more than a source of sweet products—they’re a symbol of healing, hard work, and harmony with the earth. Women survivors in our community care for the bees, harvest our Workerbee Reserve Honey, and handcraft bath + body goods which all include raw beeswax or honey!

How You Can Help

Even if bees aren’t your favorite backyard visitor, there are still easy, meaningful ways you can support their survival:

  • Plant pollinator-friendly flowers like lavender, sunflowers, and wildflowers

  • Avoid pesticides in your garden

  • Support local beekeepers (like us!)

  • Leave out a shallow water dish with rocks so bees can safely hydrate

  • Educate others—just like you're doing by reading this

A Sweet Way to Support

When you shop Hon’s Honey, you're not only empowering women survivors—you’re also supporting sustainable, bee-friendly practices that honor our planet. It’s a small act with a big impact.

This Earth Day, let’s protect the pollinators, care for the planet, and keep choosing products with purpose.
