Worker Bees

Worker Bees, Production Specialists

At Hon's Honey, our production space is called "The Hive," and our production specialists lovingly refer to themselves as "Worker Bees" who are survivors of trauma— addiction, trafficking, generational poverty, and abuse. They are fully invested in the vision of Hon’s Honey and are active in The Well's COR Life Development program, where they are equipped for personal growth, to provide for their families, and to lead in their community. Some Worker Bees will remain with Hon's Honey long-term and move into management positions as we grow. Others will use Hon's Honey as a stepping stone to pursue other opportunities they are passionate about.

They have hope for their future and work toward giving other women who do not yet know their worth and purpose the opportunity to be involved.

Mandy Memmel

Mandy Memmel, Founder & Executive Director

Mandy Memmel is the founder and executive director of The Well and Hon’s Honey, located in the southeast corner of Baltimore, MD. She founded the organization in 2013 after being involved in the community as a mentor and small group leader for over ten years.

Her vision was to provide a haven in the community for women to be loved and restored. The Well is a thriving organization and life center that offers women a community, opportunities, and responsibility.

Mandy has a nursing background. She was also the co-owner of an interior design business for 12 years. Mandy is the proud mom of 3 adult children, each actively using their gifts to influence the world around them. While raising her children, she led women’s ministry at her church, which paved the way for urban ministry in Baltimore. She has mentored over 20 women. In 2018, she received an award in Anne Arundel County for “Women Making a Difference.” While she much prefers to give awards to others, she is thankful for the opportunity to make a difference and say “yes” to change for the broken and wounded of her community.

Sarah Batley, Senior Director

Sarah has served as an advocate for survivors of trauma, including human trafficking, for the past ten years. She is a local and nationwide presenter, equipping the Church and Community to engage in healing communities for survivors.

In addition to an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a master’s in Theology, Sarah has more than 20 years of experience in local church leadership. She is passionate about connecting the local church with the understanding of, and healing power potential for, the sexually exploited individual.

She began her experience at The Well as the Program Director but quickly rolled into the role of Hon’s Honey Director, where she implements the vision of social enterprise and builds relationships with and among the Worker Bees.

Catherine Cowens, Hon’s Honey Business Manager

Catherine Cowen graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Master’s degree in Business Administration and is currently pursuing her PhD—all while raising her daughter, a role she considers her greatest calling. As a lifelong competitive equestrian, you can also find her at the barn with her horse—Riedel.

With a strong foundation in marketing, operations, and organizational development, she is an experienced professional known for leading teams, streamlining systems, and supporting mission-driven growth across both business and ministry settings.

Grounded in her love for Jesus, Catherine is committed to leading with integrity, loving others well, and creating environments where people feel seen, loved, and valued.

Jolie Gutteridge, Interim Marketing Director

Jolie has been part of The Well’s community since elementary school, serving through childcare, the Hope Chest, food distribution, and front desk support. She joined The Well and Hon’s Honey marketing team in the summer of 2020, stepping into a small role that blends her love for creativity, storytelling, and mission. Now as Interim Marketing Director, she leads with strategy and heart—bringing vision to life through marketing that reflects the hope and healing happening at The Well and Hon’s Honey. Jolie is passionate about seeing women walk in freedom and live fully into who they were created to be.

Bobbie Jenkins, Operations Manager & Head Beekeeper

Bobbie joined the Hon's Honey team as the Production Specialist in December of 2019 and has only seen growth from there. In April 2020, Bobbie accepted the position of Beekeeper while taking multiple certification courses through the University of Canada Saskatchewan, Bowie Upper Marlboro Beekeeper Association, and Beekeeping Year Two and Beyond with Anne Arundel Beekeepers Association. She also continues to attend webinars and beekeeping association meetings to further her knowledge of beekeeping, and now takes classes to become a master Beekeeper!

Some of her highlights of becoming a beekeeper include successfully maintaining the hives, continually having plentiful honey harvests since she began, as well as the opportunity to give back to nature and her community through her work as a beekeeper. One of her dreams for Hon's Honey is for half of our honey supply to be from our own hives and to see more ladies rise, and show interest in beekeeping so that they can experience the healing that beekeeping has brought her.

Bobbie also stepped into the position of Production Manager in February of 2022 where she oversaw the Production Specialists and had the chance to encourage and edify the next woman as she has been spoken into. She now has moved into Operations Manager and it allows other women to rise. She is open to God's guidance in this process. She also dreams of the organization expanding and becoming global in its reach and expanding to women outside of Baltimore City.
